FROM SCRAP TO PRODUCT
Eleek Masa Hardware Process
- Aluminum storm windows and screen doors are salvaged from deconstruction sites and donated to The ReBuilding Center.
- The ReBuilding Center separates the aluminum from glass and other materials and then separates out the cleanest aluminum for Eleek (no paint or caulk, etc.)
- Eleek picks up the scrap and delivers it to one of two local foundries.
- The local foundry melts the scrap and pours it into molds to make ELeek's Masa cabinet hardware.
- The rough castings are brought back to Eleek where they are ground, tumbled, drilled and tapped and patina'd as needed.
